Eat Sweets or Die Tryin’

For Dads on Halloween, there are two main goals. Scaring people to death. And eating the kids’ sweets. Let’s see how they do it, shall we?

I love Halloween.

I have no idea what it means, where it came from or why we have to do it. But I like it.

Halloween spending in the UK is projected to reach £779 million in 2025. 55% of Brits plan to make a Halloween purchase, with an average planned spend of £26 per person. Gen Z and millennials are most likely to spend on Halloween in 2025, with 80% planning to do so. Millennials plan to spend the most, with an average planned spend of £50 per person. London is the region expected to spend the most, with 3 in 5 (63%) planning to spend an average of £36 each. Source (Finder.com, Censuswider)

“It’s weird how Halloween went from duck apple and maybe some kind of toffee apple in my day, to this mad, multi-billion pound industry today.”

Ok, it’s weird how it went from duck apple and maybe some kind of toffee apple that would rip away teeth at the root in my day, to this mad, multi-billion pound industry we spend money we haven’t got on today.

Still, I digress. Why do I love Halloween?

Is it the pumpkins? No wait, pumkins? Hang on, punkins. That’s what I meant.

Maybe.

Actually, one thing that really gets me pumped (ahem) for this terrifying time is dressing up in a costume that would usually have me arrested on the spot if I was wandering Boots.

You see this sat out front, ready to welcome your sweet-hunting little frightsters, you better think twice.

Yup, if you’re a Dad you can absolutely nail Halloween. Especially when it comes to helping out the kids and their outfits.

Or perhaps you want to go one up on the neighbours? How’s your budget looking?

Good luck out there, scarers. And remember: play the long game when it comes to hoovering up those treats. It will pay off.

Trust me.
